For me, creativity is not about what you create, but how you create.
Fear and creativity often go hand and hand. When we are truly being creative I believe we are also dancing with fear: the fear of the unknown, the fear of failure, the fear of being too much or not enough.
Either we turn our fear into excitement and energy or we let that fear become a judge that beats down our self-confidence and cripples our creative powers. And then we start using creativity to judge and shame ourselves.
If you struggle with creativity, you are not alone.
“85% of the men and women who I interviewed remember an event in school that was so shaming, it changed how they thought about themselves for the rest of their lives. 50% of those people…those shame wounds were around creativity.” ~ Brene Brown
50%?!!! If you are someone who holds shame around your creativity, if you believe you don’t have a creative bone in your body, or if you are like a dear friend of mine who is a successful artist but still tells herself, “Well, I’m not really a real artist because I just put things together” it’s time to reclaim what is rightfully yours. Creativity is your human birthright. Creating art in all forms, and especially crafting your life as a work of art,

Here are the details on Creative Reboot:
Being creative is one of the keys to living a happy and fulfilling life, and the Creative Reboot weekend is designed to re-energize and reignite your creative fire. Creative Reboot features action-driven sessions led by notable speakers like Julia Cameron, bestselling author of the groundbreaking book The Artist’s Way, who will be leading intensive creative clusters to help conquer your fears and boost your imagination; Randy Davila, President of Hierophant Publishing and Hampton Roads Publishing, who will teach aspiring writers in attendance how to get published in today’s bustling book industry; and Barnet Bain, producer of the hit movie What Dreams May Come and director of Milton’s Secret, whose secrets to jump-starting new projects (and securing funding for them!) will be shared in-person this weekend only.
I’ll be joining in the weekend and sharing a pre-workshop on Friday called Creative Tuneup which will include shamanic breathwork and other things I rarely teach to the public. I’m super-duper excited.
Creative Reboot takes place in the artist’s mecca of Santa Fe, NM, during one of the areas most beautiful months. You will enjoy a stunning backdrop view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and be within a short walking distance from restaurants, art galleries, shopping, and other attractions. The famous Georgia O’Keefe museum is located directly behind the hotel.
This is a chance for us to gather together, inspire each other, and tap deep into our intrinsic creative potential. Come join me for this exciting, motivational weekend and unlock your true creative nature!
The world needs your creativity. Really. And you especially need to have your creativity flowing like a river into the ocean.
